About S.P.I.R.I.T.
SPIRIT is a coalition of local governments, civic groups, and businesses who have banded together to promote the improvement of US Highway 54. Membership is open to anyone who has an interest in promoting safety, commerce, and efficiency.
SPIRIT promotes the improvement of US Highway 54 in a number of ways including the following:
- Encourages members of Congress to increase federal investments in highway infrastructure.
- Submit proposals for US 54 improvements through members of Congress.
- Meets with state and local transportation officials about planning and funding improvements.
- Urges local governmental units to advance planning and engineering work so that the US 54 project segments are “on the shelf,” and ready to go.
- Work with national organizations to support highway improvements
- Send regular updates to members about news on the corridor.
- Track highway legislation.
- Work with local communities to build support.
